МКС Group of Companies completes the energy center in the Leningrad Region
MKC Group of Companies has completed the construction of an energy center for one of the oldest paper manufacturers of Russia. The power facility with a total electric capacity of 2 MW was put into operation at the production site in the Leningrad region. During the construction of the power facility, MKC experts solved complicated technical problems associated with the unusual location of the production site – the factory is located on a natural island, in the bed of the Izhora River.
The power plant built by MKC Group of Companies is the first in-house generation facility of Russia's leading paper manufacturer, MKC customer. The total electric capacity of the energy center is 2 MW, the thermal capacity is also 2 MW.The gas genset TCG 2020 V20, one of MWM most reliable and environmentally friendly engines, was used as the main generation equipment.
The facility was built using a modular construction technique. The power plant operation is carried out in a cogeneration mode, where thermal energy is used for the purposes of the production processes and for factory workshops heating. The power plant is fully integrated into the technological processes of the factory and operates in parallel with grid. Natural gas is used as fuel for the gas genset unit.
During the construction of the power facility, MKC experts solved complicated technical issues associated with the unusual location of the enterprise. The paper factory is located on a natural island. The modular unit, gas genset and auxiliary equipment were delivered by land and by water.
It is an ordinary facility implemented by MKC Group of Companies under the energy performance contract.Such a cooperation scheme enabled the customer to get economic benefits immediately after putting the energy center into operation, with no capital investments on its part. In general, the facility increased the reliability of the company energy supply and reduced energy costs significantly.
It should be noted that the customer is one of the oldest paper factories in Russia. Before the Revolution, it specialized in the manufacture of thin, expensive paper grades, after the nationalization it dealt with technical paper grades. Today, the factory is a well-known in Russia and abroad manufacturer of paper and cardboard widely used in different industries. The company is constantly being modernized and its energy efficiency is growing. That is why the factory management decided to build its in-house generation facility. MKC Group of Companies, one of the leading Russian engineering companies, was selected as contractor to perform the entire complex of turnkey works.
