Energy Centre for a Stone Mining and Processing Plant

The MKS Group of Companies has put into operation the energy centre in the Kartalinsky district of the Chelyabinsk region. The 2 MW modular power plant provides an affordable electric and heat power to the largest natural stone mining and processing enterprise in Russia.

One of the main tasks of the energy centre built by the MKS Group of Companies is to provide the enterprise with stable energy supply. In 2019, a new workshop with innovative equipment was opened at the facility providing an urgent need for stable and affordable electricity supply. The management of the enterprise decided to build its own power plant. Turnkey works were taken over by the MKS Group of Companies.

The Mini-MPP was built according to the modular construction technology in a short time - the object is located on the territory of the plant, in the immediate vicinity of the consumer. The MWM generator – TCG 2020 is used as the main equipment. The energy centre operates in a cogeneration mode (simultaneous electric and heat power generation). The energy savings are significant: after the launch of the power plant the price of electricity decreased almost threefold. The payback period of the facility is about 3 years.

The customer enterprise is one of the dynamically developing plants of the Chelyabinsk region, which needs uninterrupted, reliable and affordable electricity supply. Today, the plant has five production lines, the company operates 24 hours a day. The main product is the high-quality mineral fillers, made of white marble. Micro-frame fillers and marble chips are used for the production of dry building mixtures, paint coatings, linoleum, leather substitutes, cleaning agents, ceramic tiles, dishes and even paper. Products are in demand in Russia and abroad.

NB – the marble production breathed life into once-dying settlements of the Kartalinsky district of the Chelyabinsk region. The new production development gave several hundred workplaces at the marble quarry and at the factory. Provision of affordable and reliable power supply to the customer enterprise through the construction of an innovative power plant is the contribution of the MKS Group of Companies not only to the development of a specific production, but also to the development of this territory of the Chelyabinsk region.
